Gary & Mary Jo Gygax's 1st Lake Geneva home after they relocated from Chicago, IL in 1963. Here, in this small house, just a few feet from the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad tracks, they raised Ernie, Elise, Heidi, and Cindy. Gary was working for Fireman's Fund Insurance in their Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) department and commuted by rail each day, two and a half hours. During his time on the train he reads and researches and makes notes on game designs. He soon becomes a major figure in the war gaming hobby and a significant amateur war game designer.
