34 - Stone Manor

880 South Lake Shore Drive, 2N, Lake Geneva, WI 53147

Stone Manor, unit 2 North, would be Gary's residence beginning in the spring of 1983. He would soon share this home with his fiancé to be, Gail Carpenter. The manor, known as Younglands, having been built by Otto Young, was as magnificent as the most lavish European manors. The old-world appointments in this place were the perfect surrounding for Gary in his creative endeavors. Here he wrote some of his best selling Gord the Rogue novels, Saga of Old City and Artifact of Evil. Gary had always dreamed of being a novelist and sent manuscript after manuscript to potential publishers. Honed from years of practice, Gary got his first chance to publish a full-length novel while living here at Stone Manor and it was a smashing success. He also wrote the AD&D hardcovers Monster Manual II and Unearthed Arcana, the legendary EX1 Dungeonland, EX2 Land Beyond the Magic Mirror, World of Greyhawk Fantasy Game Setting, T1-4 The Temple of Elemental Evil, and WG6 Isle of the Ape, his last TSR adventure module.
